is this thing on?

To you suckers who have to work today... sucks to be you. The only way you could possibly salvage this day is to come to knitting, obviously.

Myself, I will probably have gotten around to putting pants on by 6 or so.

See you there!

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Haylo there!

Yes, we are knitting tonight! I may be there a bit later than norm, but that dont matter since I tend to get there FOREVER before anyone else shows up.

P.S. If anyone has two pipe cleaners? Please bring them! I will love you forever and also stop crying over the fact that I can't find mine! :(

knitting knot likely

Stupid life. With its obligations. And things.

I, Amber, and Jen are out tonight. Hopefully we'll have an extra special holiday edition next week.

snowmaggedon in the way of my knitting

So, it's not that I can't handle driving in the snow, it's that all of the other drivers can't handle driving in the snow. And I can't handle driving with those people.

And Jen is sick :(
And Amber has minions :(

So, those of you who live/work closer to Dunn Bros are welcome to show up, but right now it looks like at least 50% of the regulars won't be there.

Share the Love

This is what Will was talking about, right? Sprite Stitch

I am pretty sure I'm going to lose 11 hours of my life to this website today.

Return

I'm going to be at knitting for the first time in (I think) 2 months. I'm really excited.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Star Wars 101

Y'all are a little unedumacated on the Star Wars. I will be holding the first remedial Galaxy Far, Far Away class tonight at the Loring Dunn Bros, sometime after 5pm til the last call for espresso beverages (9-ish).

There may be some props.

ETA: Also, knitting. I GUESSSSS.

Following up...

First and foremost - Animal Review on the Deep Sea FanglerAnglerfish

Choice quote:
The Anglerfish is mostly mouth, and the parts of its anatomy that aren’t mouth – tissues, organs, fins, and a couple of eyes just for show – exist only to serve the mouth and move the mouth around.

But really you should read the whole thing (and really everything on Animal Review, because they bring the funny and the educational!)

Secondly - WRT traps and the like:
I was apparently wrong about Admiral Ackbar only saying one line, but it is still true that he only said one line that mattered. Here's youtube of the pivotal scene.

This vid
gives an example of how the good Admiral has generally been abused in popular internet culture.

Finally, I should point you all towards knowyourmeme.com. It's the place to go when you hear a reference but have no clue what it means. It, combined with urbandictionary.com will help you to become hip to all of the current internet hop, without having to go to very bad places like /b/ (no link, because it is a very bad place).

Let's not talk about last week

This week will be so much better!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Where does one procure TNG comm badges, anyway?

Knitting is an ultra low-key event tonight, Jumi and Amber are at some kind of game and since nobody else shows up until 7:30 or so, I really do not want to sit there from 4:45 til then with nobody to talk to, except for any characters that show up and talk to themselves and then sort of want to include me on the conversation.

More people next week!

Some Assembly Required

Amber's latest pattern is up for sale now on Ravelry!

I've heard tell that it might remind some people of a Lego* minifig, but who knows where that crazy lady gets her ideas?

Here's the blurb from the Ravelry pattern page:

Some Assembly Required is a pattern that will enable you to make an adorable toy that can be taken apart and put together again. The head, torso, and legs are independent pieces, so you could make multiple pieces in different colors and they would be interchangeable.

I’ve included a tutorial on boxes and edges so you can make nice crisp corners. The tutorial isn’t necessary to make the toy, but it may be helpful.

This was tech edited by me, and test knit by Honourary Fight Knitter Cathy (Jen's mom)!

Here's the link to buy it:

*Dudes: LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this site, this pattern, this blog post, or much of anything else.

It is on.

See you this evening!

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I can't top the coffee song, but while we're on theme of cute foreign videos, I give you Leek Spin!

Also...we're knitting tonight!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

le cafe

In honor of knitting tonight, I would like to give you all the coffee song. It's french, but it has subtitles.

I think I may have mentioned this before: Unnecessary Censorship of Sesame Street. I believe the word they are bleeping is "counting".

*also look at the noses, there are some cute hello kitty shaped ones.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

we did actually meet last week.

Though it may not have looked that way.

We are also going to be meeting this evening. Now that our day of labouring is done.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

The uszhe.

I have sleeves started! Why, it MAY end up that I finish this sweater by my own deadline afterall!

Y'all come see them, they're fab.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

I'm knitting something that is not gloves

It's even in worsted weight yarn... size 8 needles! And no cables!

This deserves some kind of celebration.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Special Guest Knitter!

Jen's mom is in town, we should knit with her!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

YES!

Word on the street is that this is going to be an amazing knitting night.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

tonight, tonight

I hope to see you all at the Dunn Bros tonight.

For extra credit: Can we talk about embroidery tonight and how I can get better at it? Because I am horrible. Is there a good book or something?

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

held hostage

By Lowes' 3 hour delivery window.

My new fridge should arrive sometime between 4 and 7. If the big strong men are out of my house by 6:30 or so, I'll be at knitting.

Any of you guys expecting a large truck to show up in your driveways this evening?

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

What's the word?

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is.... knitting?

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

last minute post!

Ummm... I'm about to leave for knitting, I hope others will join me.

Friday, July 3, 2009

Amber should know

Anderson Cooper was talking about FURRIES just now.

Which, I'm like "... they are talking about FURRIES wtf" all eyebrow raised as he is discussing with Attractive Female Colleague about Furry Conventon and whatnot but then he said "I am sure they are up to ALL KINDS OF THINGS ifuknowwhutimean" hur hur hur.

And I said :O

Just to make this post on topic... I am sure this is Anderson's way of saying he wants to knit with us on Tuesdays.

(CNN should rerun this in about two hours, don't ask why I know this.)

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

knitting is on

I need to get a stupid plastic thing back from Tiffany.

See you this evening!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Melting

Let's hide in the air conditioning together today.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Leave your chainsaws at home

Yes, we are meeting today.

I have to clean before knitting. My tiny cousin is going to be staying with me for a few days before he goes off to do study abroad. How well do I have to clean for a college student?

Also, remind me to tell the story about one of my (different) cousin's kids taking a chainsaw to the face recently (I'm not even joking).

Have you guys seen the Summer 2009 Knitty?

Did you happen to notice that cute knitted crab on the cover?

I wonder who could have designed such a thing?

Congratulations Amber! It's great to see your talents getting more exposure!

I just found Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

It's amazing!!

Oh Mr. Fillion... BONUS!

I've been working on my fangly fish aka Angler Fish.

It's going pretty well, now that I know how to "correctly" pick up stiches.

I hope it'll be ready for Tuesday!

See you then?!

Birthday Knitting

I have A-game to bring tomorrow, so knitting is totally on.

In addition, I intend on heading up to Zeno Cafe after we close Dunn Bros down so that I may have cake and an adult beverage.

Zeno closes at 11, so we can't get too crazy.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Show Offs

Knitting is on for tonight.

And I just want to say, everything I'm knitting is pretty blah right now. So if you all could just not bring your A-game, I would appreciate it.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

We are go for launch

I have a new sweater.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

I'll be there... will you?

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Let's knit tonight.

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

this is not a test!

Let's knit tonight.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

and this is a test

Amber and my work has started blocking things, and blogger.com is blocked, but fightknitting.blogspot.com isn't (yet).

So, we'll be able to check for comments easily, and now I'm testing out posting via email.  I'm testing out posting via email.

check in

yes, we are knitting tonight!

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

homework?

So, Amber and I have knitting homework to do for our classes this weekend. (Yes, I know exactly how this sounds). Tonight at Dunn Bros. seems like a perfectly reasonable place put our noses to the grindstone.

And let us know if you're interested in the Yarn Shop Hop on Friday 5/29. There are more details in Amber's previous post...

A Modest Proposal

For this year's yarn crawl I propose the following route.

It'll be the reverse from last year. I think it'll be best because then we won't be in the 494/Plymouth/Maple Grove area during rush hour.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

I talk funny

So you guys should come to knitting and laugh at me.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday!

I plan to be at knitting. I hope that you do too.

(and Leslie, we are done with the BSG talk now...it should be safe).

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Let's knit

Yes?

Jumi's note: Looks like a no, actually. Jen and I both have errands to run after work, and Amber's in India.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

sunshine!

It's nice out, so we aren't likely to die while trying to walk down from the parking lot.

Let's knit!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Let's do this.

Screw #wintryspew -- our need to knit is stronger.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

All I know is my gut says 'maybe'.

That's all I can commit at the mo', I will try to check in with peeps via email later today.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Illness and Lethargy

Are acting against us tonight.

Jen and Amber are definitely out, and I should probably work a little late tonight, so let's take a by this week.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Coraline

There's Neil Gaiman and knitting and buttons for eyes.

Plus, it's in 3D.

Since you guys were talking about going to see Coraline in lieu of knitting this week, I looked up some showtimes:

AMC Rosedale: 6:35

Regal Brooklyn Center (not 3D!): 6:45, 9:10

Block E (not 3D!): 6:50, 9:20

Southdale: 6:40, 9:10

MOA (not 3D!): 6:55, 9:15.

Personally, I'm partial to the 6:35 at Rosedale showing -- can you guys make this? (one of you city types will have to give Will a ride).

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Tues.

Guys, if we cannot talk about BSG tonight, I don't even know how I'll otherwise go on. If you haven't seen it, I don't know... come late or something. Or, we'll knit you some earmuffs.

I don't have internets during the day but I'll be home around 4:00 and can check back here to see if we're still on or what.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Exciting things!

  1. It's Tuesday, which means we'll be knitting, y/y?
  2. Yarnover is coming up in April, and the deadline for signing up for classes is this week. Amber and I are definitely going, and you should check out the brochure and come with (or at least plan to hit the vendors!)
  3. Knit-Out at the MOA - Feb 14 and 15. This was fun 2 years ago, and hell last year. I'd be willing to try it if we planned on getting there _early_ (like, 9am since they start at 10).
  4. BSG is back to being the best show on TV (says the girl who isn't actually watching any other shows on TV right now, but honestly...what could beat that?)

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Something to ponder.

I was recently gifted two skeins of Tilli Tomas worsted silk, about 500 yards. I would like to do some kind of small wrap or larger scarf, preferably lacy. I really like Clapotis but I only have ~half the recommended yardage. So, I'm open to ideas. I don't know, maybe it needs to be a little bag, or a fancy pillow.

I will bring the yarn on Tuesday!

ETA: Ooooh, this might be perfect. I may just get it!

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Let us knit.

Am I crazy for wanting to frog my Vine Lace Cardigan and knit a Fireside with that yarn instead? I was wearing it yesterday and realized it is drafty, and frankly it's never been very flattering on me. I do believe I'd have more than enough yarn for a Fireside, anyway.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

We are on, yes yes?

I would very much like to show off the little vegetable I am working on. It's cute and stuff!

ETA: BEARS BEETS BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Recent episode discussion will be FAST N FURIOUS so be caught up or bring earplugs!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

wool keeps you warm

So does coffee and a fake fireplace.

What say you good people?

Monday, January 5, 2009

Finally!

It may not snow tuesday! It's tiffany's birthday! She left comments in last week's post with details.

Also, I have done a lot of knitting that you haven't even seen yet.

01/06/2009 7 PM = Dunn bros knitting.
